Holmes Lilley is an accomplished General Counsel for both public and private companies, with a proven record of leadership, strong legal counsel, and business acumen, successfully managing complex legal and business issues for small, mid-size and publicly traded companies. He is currently located in Southern, California. His primary areas of expertise include Workers’ Compensation, Wage and Hour Class Action Litigation Management, Commercial Transactions, Corporate Governance, Compliance, Litigation Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Legal Department Management including l management of in-house and external counsel within budgets to achieve results.
He is California Registered and Certified In-House Counsel, Nevada Registered and Certified In-House Counsel, admitted to practice before all North Carolina State and Appellate Courts including the North Carolina Supreme Court, and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
His most recent venture was founding the law firm of Employer Defense Group, LLP in 2017 and coinciding with that, he serves as General Counsel Chartwell Staffing Services, Inc. Los Angeles, California.. As General Counsel, and member of executive management team, he oversees all functions of the legal department.
Virginia Episcopal School where he attended High School, he was the recipient of VES’ Highest English Award. He then went on to study at The University of Mississippi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts as an English Major; History Minor and had the opportunity to study abroad-Venice, Italy. Finally, he attended Elon University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate, with concentrations in Corporate Law and Litigation. There he was a member of Innocence Project and was a nominee for the Inscoe Scholarship Award.
His other notable experiences include being the key representative before a Congressional Roundtable at the request of Congressmen Mike Thompson, key Speaker for The American Health Lawyers Association, annual meeting, Long-term Care, and the Law. He also published HITECH ACT: Security Breach Notifications Legal Briefing for The HR Group, Inc.: and The Ins and Outs of the Employment Security Commission.
